![]() ![]() On the plus side, Pynchon’s mystery had more depth to it than Anderson’s film. ![]() Maybe Megan Abbott? Bret Easton Ellis (I know, he’s been cancelled, Rules of Attraction is still awesome)? I don’t know, but I told myself I’d read everything in that bag they gave me and here we are. ![]() Not sure what made them pick this one up. Then I got it from my favorite local book store in that deal I mentioned previously where I gave a list of my favorite authors, and they pick out books I’ll like. I had no plans on reading the original book that inspired the movie. Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Reese Witherspoon, Benicio Del Toro… maybe my expectations were too high, but the end result of following a stoner around a not terribly interesting mystery just wasn’t for me. I checked out his movie Inherent Vice last year, and gotta say I found the whole thing to be kind of boring. Or Boogie Nights for a movie that’ll get at least ten different emotions out of you. Check out There Will Be Blood for a fantastic adaptation of a novel. ![]()
